Calcagno
The northern foothills of the volcanic Etna have historically produced the area's best wines. At an altitude of almost 800 meters, the Calcagno family has been producing excellent wines from typical varieties (Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio) for more than 40 years, which in color and intensity can resemble some Burgundy wines. Their work with the white Carricante variety is also very interesting. Their style is highly mineral, dry wines that make you want to take another sip after the first. The Arcuria vineyard is one of the oldest in the area and its almost 90 years of age is definitely reflected in the wines that come from it.
